“Nessya’s is more than a business, it’s an extension of my home, Janet, Pat and Kele who work with us, are some of my closest friends. We love what we do and who we work with. It is essential in fact.” Nessya Neemron

Nessya Neemron

Nessya was born and raised in Israel among women who loved to adorn themselves with beautiful things. These were women who celebrated beauty in themselves and each other. Steeped in this culture, Nessya has always loved gems and jewels, working with beads and stones, and creating jewelry to accentuate a woman’s beauty.

An astute business woman, she knows how to act when the time is right and to bide her time when it isn’t. Nessya has honed her eye, she knows quality, what people want and turns this keen insight to every gem and jewel she selects for the boutique.

John Whitaker

John was born and raised in Manchester, England. John is an engineer by trade, whose first career was international project management. Along with a stable methodical approach, John’s eye for beauty lends itself in many ways. John’s photographs of Prince Edward Island landscapes are available in the store, a great gift to bring home to friends and family.

Janet Dawson
Janet Dawson
Janet Dawson is a born and bred Islander, hailing from Western PEI. Janet began working with Nessya’s in the early days, over 10 years ago. Janet is the rock and anchor of the store, which is why she is the store manager. Janet loves working with beautiful things, it makes her feel as though she is playing instead of working. Learning about the gems has been very satisfying and Janet is ready to share her joy and knowledge with all who come to the store. In fact, several women who shop at the store have become close friends, who drop in regularly. Janet’s love of Nessya’s, and the friends she has made there makes for a warm, hospitable, do anything for you type of shopping experience.

Kele listens and feels for what is the essence of a client and their products or services and builds a strategy blending traditional and social media customized for each client’s goals and resources.

The Story of Nessya’s Gems & Jewels
The Power of Friendship and Belief in a Dream

“If it wasn’t for the generosity for my business partner, John, our clientele, our staff and friends, this business would not have blossomed as it has.” Nessya Neemron.

Nessya Neemron was born and raised in Israel among women who loved to adorn themselves with beautiful things. These were women who celebrated beauty in themselves and each other. Steeped in this culture, Nessya has always loved gems and jewels, working with stones and beads, and creating jewelry that would accentuate women’s beauty. After many adventures in New York City, Nessya was looking for a quieter place to live and a stronger sense of community. In 1992 love brought her to The Island, Prince Edward Island, Canada’s smallest province and it has been her home ever since.

With a handful of stones and a small loan, Nessya began designing for the Charlottetown Farmer’s Market. Enter John Whitaker, who became her business partner, and things really started happening. An instant must see booth at the local farmer’s market, Nessya expanded both her faithful clientel and her selection of gems & jewels. She began gypsying to every craft fair, Christmas show and summer festival in Atlantic Canada. For 12 years Nessya’s was on the move,

In 2005, Nessya’s Gems and Jewels found a storefront in downtown Charlottetown, PEI, and it has become home for people from near and far visiting, finding treasures, time and time again. There is no such thing as a one time customer. Nessya’s has been thriving since.
